How To Achieve The Perfect Shave
Getting the perfect shave is a four-stage process. Here’s what you need to keep in mind, so you’re looking your best, every time.
Before you even reach for the razor, make sure your skin is prepared and ready to go. Wash your face and neck with warm water and use an exfoliating scrub or face wash. This will not just remove any dirt, oil or dry skin, but will also soften your facial hair, making it easier and more gentle on the skin.
A quality gel helps soften the hair, and also reduces friction between your razor and the skin, giving you an easier shave. Be generous with the amount of gel you apply to your face and neck, to protect yourself against nicks and scratches during shaving.
Dip a clean, sharp blade in hot water. Using gentle pressure, go with the grain of your beard. Notice that the hair may grow in different directions. For a closer finish, re-lather and shave gently against the grain.
When shopping around for a cartridge razor, pay attention to the handle, particularly the weight. An instrument with a heavier grip will help you achieve even strokes.
If you’re battling thicker stubble, opt for the industrial-strength power of a razor with a four-blade cartridge. It will have your beard wondering why it even bothered growing in the first place.
After shaving, rinse with cold water and pat dry. Add the finishing touches with an after-shave balm or moisturiser.
